Summary of Position
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines. This role supports daily kitchen operations by ensuring timely, accurate food production while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and local health department regulations. The Line Cook works collaboratively with the kitchen team to deliver consistent, high-quality meals and uphold the organization’s service and operational standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare food according to approved recipes, portion standards, and supervisor direction.
- Set up and break down assigned station on time for each service period.
- Ensure food quality, accuracy, and timely delivery to the correct service area.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation requirements in accordance with Georgia Department of Public Health Food Service Rules and Regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation by following “clean as you go” practices at all times.
- Properly store food by covering, labeling, dating, and rotating items using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Assist with same-day and advance food preparation as assigned.
- Support other kitchen stations and participate in cross-training when needed.
- Follow all workplace safety guidelines in accordance with OSHA standards, including safe lifting, equipment use, and accident prevention.
- Immediately report safety hazards, accidents, illnesses, or food quality concerns to a supervisor.
- Complete required production, temperature, and cleaning logs daily.
- Attend required kitchen meetings (off-duty meetings will be paid).
- Obtain supervisor approval before leaving the kitchen during a shift.
- Accurately clock in and out for all scheduled shifts.
- Overtime must be approved in advance and is based on business needs.
- Associates may not remain on the property outside of scheduled work hours without management approval.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support kitchen operations and company standards.
Essential Functions
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and co-workers.
- Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
- Ability to visually check work, work area, and hotel space.
- Minimum lifting of 30 pounds.
Other Requirements
- Knowledge of English and local language.
- Ability to interact with guests and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to communicate with all managers, supervisors and fellow associates.
- Ability to handle conflict situations in a professional manner.
- Be well groomed and adhere to the hotel’s dress code.
Safety Awareness
Maintain safety by adhering to safety policies, being responsible to report all accidents immediately. Support all safety programs. Proceed with caution when walking on slippery floors. Ensure proper safety instructions are given before operating any equipment. Ensures the kitchen meets all safety standards.
Notice:
ARLLC, operating as Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center, function seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. You as an associate must realize this fact and be aware that at times, it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift, as business demands. In addition, you understand that business determines the amount of hours you work, and that some weeks may be scheduled for less than forty hours, and on other weeks you may be scheduled to work more than forty hours per week.
Compensation: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
